I love the glossiness of glass and finding ways of creating with it. I use glass fusing techniques to create my pieces, often rescuing old bottles and transforming them into something new but also using art glass, which offers much more variety and flexibility when creating designs. I fire the glass using my own kiln, allowing it to melt under controlled temperatures and so fuse together.
Each firing has several different stages taking place over many hours. Often a second, or third, firing is required to achieve certain effects, shapes and curves.
Opening the kiln is always a hair-raising moment which never fails to create an element of excitement!
